The Oklahoma Chapter of American Mothers is a valuable network of moms from across the state who ensure that Oklahoma mothers are recognized for their numerous contributions and service at the local, state and national level.The first Oklahoma Mother of the Year, Mrs. Henry G.Bennett, was named in 1943 and was the first lady of Oklahoma State University at the time. Countless inspirational mothers are nominated annually for this award. Oklahoma has had four women recognized as the National Mother of the Year - Betty Zahn in 1971, Gloria Langdon in 1977, Barbara Thompson in 1995, and Deb Stanaland in 2015. Connell Branan, American Mothers National Board President and 2006 National Young Mother of the Year, is a member of the Oklahoma Chapter, and Oklahoma's Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, was named the American Mother of Achievement in 2019.
