The Nevada Association of American Mothers honored their first Mother of the Year, Una R. Dickerson from Reno, in 1945. Through the years there have been Mothers of the Year from cities throughout the state, but for the last number of years most of the Nevada Association membership has been based in the Las Vegas area.  The Association goals are to “Reach, Teach and Honor,” which gives their membership opportunities to serve in the community and share their love of Motherhood. The Association is currently working with Lighthouse Charities to assist refugee families in setting up their home with furnishings, bedding and needed items. The Association has a “Moms Meet Up,” Chapter which gathers moms of different generations together and each Spring, they hold a Brunch on the Saturday before Mother’s Day to honor mothers.  This is a lovely event with recognition from State and local dignitaries. The Nevada honorees are also recognized and presented at a televised Clark County Commission meeting.
