The Illinois Association of American Mothers has been active since 1945 when they named the first Illinois Mother of the Year, Mrs. F.W. Thompson from Chicago. Today, members of the Illinois Association meet at least twice per year in the Fall and Spring. The Fall meeting is generally dedicated to gaining support for the 5th Grade Essay Contest and encouraging members to nominate a Mother of the Year. During the Spring meeting, members gather to celebrate the new Mother of the Year. An association rich in history, several members of the Illinois Association have been involved for 30 to 40 years!
